There will be more to this story. I don't know if it is rumor or not but photo came from the Monster Buck Classic just had in Topeka. Supposedly a guy brought it in to see what it would score and then found out that it could be a new state record and the guy was then suddenly nowhere to be found. In the meantime, a farmer came in stating that it was the buck that he found dead on his property and after going back to the house to call for a salvage tag he returned to find the buck headless and the rack was gone. Not sure whether the official story will come out or not. This is just what I have heard from more than one source.

Crazy story but if that's true at least they have a pretty good picture of the guy. I hope they nab him for trespassing at least not to mention improperly tagged deer. It appears to be a clean 7x7- what is the Kansas state record for typical?? Jim

Jim, the KS State record is 198 2/8" net, taken back in the 70s.

Yeah this buck was poached. Couldnt paste the link but the story is out of Topeka,KS. Just a shame. Some guys just can't help themselves

Here's a link to the story that includes the trailcam pic that got the guy busted. Apparently this is the THIRD deer from Kansas that would have broken the state record that would have been poached. Think Kansas has a bit of a poaching problem??? It's very apparent when you're up there with all the trucks driving around during rifle season that a majority of the deer get killed from the roads. This guy said he shot it in NE Kansas but someone with a trailcam pic of the buck from South of Topeka had the deer on camera. Glad he was caught.

read it and man thats just sad! would like to see the other whitetail that was poached in 00', i think it shouldt take away from the animal and should still be entered just dont put the poachers name put poached lol

my neighbor kills two bucks a yr...id called him in but then i got to put up with his butt living next door to me...hes a prick n thinks hes just a greatest hunter of all time...his 170 monster was shot out his up stairs window with a high powerd rifle my sister was on the front porch smoking at 130am ran in n said somone hunting in the field next day he brings it over to b cleand i said i heard a shot n he pealed out n was gone...prick...it will catch up...if i called him then it wld have been for that deer now charges r mounting cuz he has a dozen poach deer!!!....prick
