nice trail cam picture. it makes waiting for the season so much more fun when you have a picture of a buck that you want to hunt. good luck this year.

Thanks, I have a feeling by the fall he's might have a problem if he walks by my stand, but he's not the one I'm looking for. I'm guessing this deer at being 2 or maybe 3 years old. I have pics of this deer from earlier this year, when he was just working on his browtines and had his main beams about half the length of his ears... at that time I got a pic of a much larger bodied deer with his main beams out past his ears and I'm hoping to get some pics of him... maybe even one with me in it come fall LOL

I don't know, he's still got July and August to grow... I would think he would be borderline P&Y (125) by season but I don't have enough experience with antler growth to know for sure.

in response to your reply, he isnt a monster, but im not really a head-hunter. dont get me wrong, i would like a big buck as much as the next guy, but i definitly wont go home empty if i dont see one. antlers make poor soup! i hope you get that big guy this year. i wonder if those nubbins on his neck will stay until fall. i shot a buck in velvet that had a large one by his eye with my bow a few years back.

ct... I'm a meat hunter / head hunter I supose... I usually try to take a couple does early in the season to get the freezer full and then wait on a nice buck or 2 in November... I've taken some nice deer over the last few years but I have also been told that I'm just plain lucky.

im the same way. there is no better eating deer than a 1.5 year old doe in september. they are easy to pattern early in the season and in ct. we get 4 tags for bow. 2 antlerless and 2 either sex. season opens on sept 15. i cant wait.
