She is a tough little girl for standing around after that attack. I would have guessed a near miss by a broadhead. Or maybe he caught her messing around with another buck and had to put a mark on her.

I'd say it was a different doe in the previous pic. Looks like a broadhead cut to me. Probably tried to shoot her walking away. That's a bad one for sure!

Good point guys, you two might be correct...Bow season in Franklin County opened Sept 3, 2011 and this pic was shot Sept 22....It is obviously a fresh wound and seems to be at the right angle for a tree stand shot which would add up...

I would think it would be able to survive that. Looks like it would be able to lick most of it and keep it clean. It's amazing how much punishment a deer can take and keep on going. We were out spot lighting a long time ago and we saw a three legged deer. My young dumb ass said, 'I bet I could catch that deer, it only has three legs." Would you believe that I actually tried to run after it only to find out it ran faster then the deer with FOUR legs??
