According to my friend that owns this camera, the pic before this one showed the smaller deer completely fine. Then this pic shows the larger buck appeared in the pic with the smaller deer showing quite a wicked cut. Apparently, the feeder was out of corn and the larger buck didn't like the smaller one invading his territory!

She is a tough little girl for standing around after that attack. I would have guessed a near miss by a broadhead. Or maybe he caught her messing around with another buck and had to put a mark on her.

I'd say it was a different doe in the previous pic. Looks like a broadhead cut to me. Probably tried to shoot her walking away. That's a bad one for sure!

Good point guys, you two might be correct...Bow season in Franklin County opened Sept 3, 2011 and this pic was shot Sept 22....It is obviously a fresh wound and seems to be at the right angle for a tree stand shot which would add up...

What do you guys think, can a deer survive a wound like that?

I would think it would be able to survive that. Looks like it would be able to lick most of it and keep it clean. It's amazing how much punishment a deer can take and keep on going. We were out spot lighting a long time ago and we saw a three legged deer. My young dumb ass said, 'I bet I could catch that deer, it only has three legs." Would you believe that I actually tried to run after it only to find out it ran faster then the deer with FOUR legs??
